I am Emily, a 16 y o student. I created this website with one purpose in mind. I want to raise awareness of Domestic violence abuse and I believe that increasing awareness of domestic violence abuse will help and encourage the public to reduce the prevalence of domestic violence abuse.
I started a Domestic Violence Awareness (DVA) club at my high school to provide information and raise awareness about domestic violence.
I remember as I was growing up my mother had shared with me that she had witnessed instances of domestic violence abuse when she was young and that had impacted her. When she became older she sought therapy and that helped her heal from the negative childhood experiences.
I believe more information, education, increased awareness on issues surrounding domestic violence abuse and public support help reduce incidences of domestic violence abuse.
Most victims can find help through working with others and avoid isolation. Therapy is also a key component in helping victims recover from their traumatic experiences associated with domestic violence abuse.
In my high school, besides domestic violence awareness club, I also started a cooking club. In my cooking club I worked with other students to bake different items that we sold to raise funds and donated to a local non profit organization.
I believe working with others is key in addressing many of our societal challenges.
My experience in high school and building this website is one step in the right direction toward being a member of this great society in general. I thank the readers and visitors to my website. ,
